So You Want to Start a Film Festival

It's not the name of a movie but an offer to help you. An awful lot of cities, towns and even villages have them (think Telluride, Colorado, host to one of the world's most important annual film festivals); you can have one too.

If you're interested, I can help you get started. I can organize it and run it for you, or I can consult with you and lay out a startup plan and a growth plan for future years. I can give you estimates on what your festival will cost, and help you raise the money. I can train volunteers, negotiate for films with distributors and producers, help you choose themes, find celebrities to attend, and supervise your publicity and advertising.

You might find it helpful to read an article I wrote last year, which you can access right here: It's called "A Little Different Festival." It's the story of the Spokane, Washington festival that I founded and directed for its first six years.

These days I consult to other festivals around the United States, but they're already up and running. Now what I'd like to do is help get a new one started. If you're interested, just give me a ring at 509.624.4644, or email me here at rglatzer@comcast.net.
